Now that it’s cool to bring our own device onto an airliner, in-flight connectivity and entertainment are set to become a booming market. In fact, a new report out of Grand View Research says wireless in-flight entertainment will be a $3.53 billion market by 2025.
That sounds exciting, but for those stuck on the tarmac with dodgy Gogo connectivity, there are a few obvious reliability issues to get sorted before consumers start throwing money at in-flight wireless entertainment. But there are several opportunities afoot to improve the in-flight wireless experience.
Airlines are rushing to beef-up their in-flight wifi with satellite broadband to support lucrative, next generations services like streaming movies and video on demand, providing lucrative opportunities for content providers.
